Air source heat pumps
Air source heat pumps are the most common technology supported by the Boiler Upgrade Scheme and are suitable for many homes across England and Wales.
They work by drawing heat from the outside air and using it to provide space heating and hot water.
Under the Boiler Upgrade Scheme, we install air source heat pumps that are:

Designed to work with your existing heating system
Installed to meet MCS and PAS 2035 standards
Ground Source Heat Pumps
What We Install | For suitable properties
Ground source heat pumps use heat stored in the ground to provide highly efficient heating and hot water.
They can be supported under the Boiler Upgrade Scheme but are only suitable for certain properties, typically those with sufficient outdoor space for ground loops or boreholes.
We assess whether a ground source heat pump is appropriate based on:

Biomass Boilers
Biomass boilers are also included within the Boiler Upgrade Scheme, although eligibility is more limited.
Biomass systems must meet strict sustainability and emissions requirements to qualify for BUS funding. We’ll advise clearly if this option is appropriate for your property.
